10 years ago, I had a job to do “Mall Hopping” and I just loved that job. My job was to simply supervise and implement the visual merchandising efforts of the famous Levi’s jeans brands ( thanks to my good friend who gave me that job 😉 . So, that’s why everyday I had to visit different malls with a Levi’s outlet, check their displays, talk to the sales assistants on how to properly display the products ( all the do’s and don’ts) and once every 3 months or so, we have to change the window display. It was so easy and fun at the same time. Not to mention I get to travel to different cities in Mindanao and Visayas and do mall hopping!

I’ll never forget that job and I truly enjoyed every minute of it, especially the part where I have to travel alone ( in buses, planes, or ships! ), stay in hotels and see different places. It was such an adventure! I love seeing the malls too, seeing all the different shops and trying out their different fastfoods. Even if  ” Malling” has been my job, I never got bored of it. So, that’s why until now, I still love going to malls.. not to shop..but just see things around..

My Favorite Place to Shop in Hatyai June 14, 2009

carrefour_hat_yai_

Carrefour is indeed one of my favorite places to shop in Hatyai, Thailand. Why? It’s because it was so near our house, you could literally see us there every week!

One proof that we are their frequent customers/visitors is that we already know several workers in the Mall- from the people in Tsutaya, the Parlor, the sales people inside the hypermarket to the cleaners. It’s really quite amusing that everytime we go there, we alway meet someone we know.

My Hubby is also amazed why I never get bored of Carrefour. I don’t know, I just like to hang out in the malls just like I did when I was working ( I’ll post on that later). I think I like Carrefour compared with the other shops because I’m already so familiar with the placement of their goods that I can do my groceries with my eyes closed! LOL! And when we don’t have anything else to buy except bread or mineral water, it’s just a nice place to hang out because it’s cold , big and not too crowded ( that is during the weekdays after 7pm).

Oh well, writing about this now, makes me miss Carrefour, our house and everything and everyone in Hatyai. 🙂

Places to Shop in Klang, Malaysia June 8, 2009

Here is a list of the malls and places to shop here in Klang.

* ÆON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre (Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang) or simply called the New Jusco – This is my favorite mall so far because its new, big and a lot of shops and food outlets to choose from.
* Bukit Raja Shopping Centre (Bandar Baru Klang) or Jusco in Bukit Raja – It’s quite a nice mall except that it has been superseded by the new Jusco in Bukit Tinggi
* Carrefour (Kapar Road) – Oh, as a non Klang resident, we had a difficult time finding this one. Their signages were not accurate. It was written on one of the signages, Carrefour 5 minutes away but it actually took us 10-12 minutes at a normal speed and midway we thought that we were lost.
* Centro Business Centre[1]
* Giant (Bandar Bukit Tinggi) – Just like any other Giant outlets, I find their layout quite confusing and ended up forgetting to buy a lot of things. But they do have a lot of good bargain.
* Harbour Place (Port Klang – under construction) – I’m looking forward for the opening of this mall since its just near to where we are staying.
* Harbour Point (Port Klang – under construction)
* Klang City Square
* Klang Digital Mall (Formerly known as Klang Mid Valley, located adjacent to Klang City Square and Shaw Centrepoint)
* Klang Parade (Meru Road)
* Shaw Centrepoint (Klang Town) – One place that I’m not so keen in going because it’s kinda popular for pick pocketing and those sort of things.
* Tesco (Bandar Bukit Tinggi) – I like Tesco
* Indian Street for all the Indian stuffs and clothesAeon-bukit-tinggi

My Favorite Mall in Cagayan de Oro April 17, 2009

There are only a few malls in my Hometown, in Cagayan de Oro. The more famous ones are Lim Ket Kai,  SM and Gaisano Mall. More people are drawn towards Lim Ket Kai since it’s bigger and has a wide array of shops and fastfood outlets. But I think I kinda like SM City more. I think it’s for a fact that the layout is simpler and there’s a fewer crowd especially during the weekdays. And since I’m not a ‘shopper’ then, it the wide variety of shops to choose from won’t really matter much to me.

Oh, blogging about this makes me miss SM City. By the way, I like to do my groceries there too. My favorite fastfood outlet there would be Pizza Hut or Yellow Cab.

Comparing Prices: Malaysia and Philippines April 6, 2009

We are currently in Malaysia right now. We were in the Philippines for a few months late last year till early this year.

When I arrived in the Philippines, I couldn’t help but notice the increase of the prices of basic commodities. Actually, it’s either the price has increased or the volume, wieght or size of the commodity has decreased.

So, often times my family could hear me complaining of the price increase and comparing the prices from Thailand or Malaysia or the prices during my previous visits.

Then, we arrived in Malaysia. We did our first grocery shopping at EconMart which is a supermarket just at the back of the place where we were staying. Then, I got another shock again because I started to literally convert ( from Malaysia Ringgit to Philippine Peso) every stuff we bought. Then, I found out that the once ‘cheaper’ Malaysian products turned out not to be cheap anymore. There has also been a tremendous price increase in many commodities.  Tsk..tsk..tsk.. So, wherever we go, prices have soared up high.I told my Hubby one day, ” You know what, it’s either there has been an increase on the prices of the commodities OR we have become poorer now. Heheh! Which is which??

SM Cagayan de Oro 3day Sale! March 27, 2009

There will be a mall-wide 3 day sale at SM Cagayan de Oro city from April 3-5 ( extended until April 6) from 10 am-10 pm. Avail of discounts up to 50 % off!

SM sales are quite popular here in the city since you can really get big discounts. It would be nice to get some children clothes which is usually expensive but I still have to see our budget and at the same time if our kids really need new clothes.
